Temple is the kind of place you could get hustled out of your mortgage if you're not careful. Test your skills against some of the best in town or just mess about with the lads. Just don't bump into the serious players if you can avoid it. The pizza and sandwiches are there as a last resort if you're in the midst of a marathon hustle and you need some sustainment. Oh yeah, their happy hour lasts four hours, which'll make you really really really happy. Or depressed, depending on your disposition. Hours: Mon-Fri 11am-2am, Sat-Sun 3pm-2am

This place is a zoo. Ah maaaann, that's such a weak way to start out. Sorry. Cheap pitchers, well-kempt, serenly felted pool tables, a divey 70's vibe and pickles on the menu just because they have to have a menu. How can you not love the Zoo? The crowd varies from old-school barflies to coeds and every make and model in between. Four, seven-foot tables - one, seven-foot, six inch table and a vintage Snooker table for those people from Mars who play Snooker. Hours: Daily 11am-2am

They're about to open in a new location up the street but we have no doubt it'll be every bit as fun and friendly as this one. You're not gonna get much attitude here at The Bev, but you are gonna get a lot of beer. Many taps. Many bottles. They even have that nutty barleywine stuff that makes you go crazy and run around the city with your clothes off. The back room is a bar athlete's dream. It's the room you've always dreamed of as a kid. Bring your own eats to soak up the beer.
