It's a veritable miasma of retro vinyl, diner chic, rockabilly and good old-fashioned Seattle grit. The barkeeps aren't messing around, nor should you. Reward them well for their liberal pours and it'll come back to you tenfold. It's the best place in the country including Long Island to get a Long Island Iced Teas. Two bars are always better than one the jukebox delivers as consistently as the bartenders. They don't take plastic, but just bring a twenty and get bombed on the cheap. Hours: Daily 12pm-2am

Dollar High Life all day, every day. That's enough to end the description of this little gem right there. If you're a Heiney chugging yuppie try to keep that concealed at this alt-cool den of iniquity. Actually, screw that. Be yourself and go with confidence. Calling the drinks stiff is like calling Seattle a little overcast at times. You can get properly sauced and rock out all night for a pittance.

Calling this a hole in the wall is being kind to holes everywhere. The waitstaff doesn't like you, let's just get that out of the way. The regulars are so unpretentious that they hate you as well. Not to worry, that all fades away after the first few drinks. The scene changes and suddenly you fit in just fine. After a few more, you realize that it's a quite enjoyable place to fritter away some time. Before you know it, you'll have quit your job to hang out here full-time. And then a new unsuspecting yuppster will stumble in and you'll hate him. Thus is the circle of life. Hours: Kitchen: daily 24 hours, Bar: daily 6am-2am

Seattle's oldest saloon, established in 1892, is nestled in Pioneer Square. Previously voted both Seattle's best dive bar and one of the 10 best rock bars in the U.S., the Central has live music every night of the week.
