Welcome to beer sluggers nirvana. A lot of love went into the selection of their 200 some odd beers and you can get any of their tap beers to go in bottles known as growlers. The term "growlers" has always meant something else to us but that's a story for another time. What were we saying? Oh yeah, the beer collection is staggering. It can be somewhat intimidating, but the knowledgeable barkeeps and resident beer snobs will walk you through the maze. The beers here are so good they're called "biers." It's the closest place we've found to the tavern that Frodo and his homies hang out in. And trust us, we've scoured the country. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing and the beer list is so long and hard to pronounce you know it's good. The staff will help you find the right grog to fit your mood. The food is hearty and comforting. Eat, drink, be merry and take a cab home. Hours: Daily 11am-2am

To the Monk faithful it's the best bar in Seattle. It's tough to argue. The atmosphere is simple, but the beer list is great and the people are generally down-to-earth good old Seattleites. It's a great place to hunker down for the evening, play some board games and have a lively, slur-riddled conversation with your best friends. They switch out their taps fairly often, and certainly know what they're doing when it comes to god's sweet sweet nectar.
