Very good Italian!!
I have only been here with people who are not that adventurous and who like to play it safe with their menu choices-- but regardless, the food was good. There were some definite highlights. The Caesar Salad was tasty and one of the better ones I have had [short of making my own] and the chopped salad was full of flavor with a nice coating of House Dressing [and enough dressing as well, not doused, but not dry either]. The mushroom appetizer was delicious as well. The addition of the Alfredo is a nice departure from just the usual breadcrumbs. DELICIOUS were the Beef Medallions with Garlic Mashed Potatoes! With a scrumptious sauce and tender meat, this dish was definitely a highlight [and from someone who is not a huge fan of beef]! Loved this dish... in fact I know there was lasagna and something else on the table, but who cares when they are bringing another round of Beef Medallions! My next memory is dessert.... the Homemade Profiteroles! YUM-MY!! The vanilla bean ice cream is just scrumptious... and with the addition of the fudge... plus whipped cream [and what is not better with whipped cream?]... and they are HUGE... not a small little dessert... one is plenty for two [though everyone should have at least one to themselves]. But the ice cream is true ice cream, not airy, but more toward gelato... and so good, with a clean vanilla taste. Possibly a little pricey, for the casual diner, but Maggiano's isworth it. The food is much better than the usual chains but not priced like the higher end eateries. Located in Santana Row, you get that "real" restaurant atmosphere, as well as being in a small village, separate from the city surrounding it. Service was very good and very capable for larger groups. Hope you can give them a try!
