The San Jose Museum of Art has a permanent collection of 1,400 twentieth and twenty-first century artworks including paintings, sculpture, installation, new media, photography, drawings, prints and artist books. Objects from the permanent collection are often installed in the museum's galleries, and are periodically used to curate entire exhibitions.

This exhibition examines the development of robot iconography in fine art over the past 50 years. The exhibition features sculptures, paintings, photographs, digital media, and installations created by more than 20 artists. The exhibition is curated by SJMA senior curator JoAnne Northrup.

'Charged Sites: Radka Donnell’s Art Quilts' examines the 40-year career of a pioneering art quilter, feminist, author and art therapist, Radka Donnell. Her quilts are bold, sassy, abstract expressionistic forces of color, pattern and complex asymmetrical and graphic design.

'Road Trip' is a distinctly American experience in which the journey is as compelling as the destination. It examines this travel experience through photography, video, sculpture and works on paper by Eleanor Antin, Jane Benson, Sophie Calle and others.

This event showcases quilts made to celebrate one of life’s most poignant moments. This includes a selection of mostly 20th century quilts pieces with traditional wedding quilt designs including white work and the double wedding ring.

This exhibition presents works by Paul Wonner, a poetic giant, who focuses between the figure and the still life, the interior and the exterior and connects the viewers in the multiple textures of his work.

Sculptor and painter, Jack Zajac, is a well-known American artist who explores movement, life, death and rebirth in his work. In this exhibition he intimately speaks about his art and process.

‘Down to Earth: Santa Cruz Studio Ceramics’ features the work of local artist, Tasha High.

The museum features innovative exhibits with hands-on sections where students can handle objects, allowing them to connect with days gone by. Within these exhibits, which are not specific to just Campbell history but focus on common cultural themes, students see, hear, touch, smell and even taste the past in specially prepared activities focusing on home, recreation, work and community. By actively examining and using artifacts and participating in related activities, children increase their knowledge about history and develop an appreciation for their heritage.

Beautifully restored in an enchanting park-like setting, the English Tudor style architecture of the Ainsley House transports the visitor to the bygone era of the 1920s. Built in 1925 as the home for Campbell canning pioneer J.C. Ainsley and his wife Alcinda, the home was moved to its present location in 1990. The exquisitely restored and decorated 15 rooms are furnished with much of the original furniture of the era when it was one of the grand homes of the Santa Clara Valley. The surrounding English gardens are a refreshing respite for the visitor to this unique historic house.

This exhibition includes approximately ten abstract prints and drawings from the Cantor Arts Center collection and private lenders.

‘Wonderland’ will showcase giant sculptures that tower over in Ann Weber’s installation of woven cardboard pieces.
