Won't Be Back
Last weekend, some friends and I decided to spend our Saturday evening at Champps - Stony Point watching the playoffs, having drinks, and eating dinner. We had a party of 6, which I assumed wouldn't be a problem considering the place wasn't even half full. However, when I stated that we needed a table for 6, the hostesses stated the only place we could sit was in the smoking section near the bar. I told her I didn't want to sit in Smoking, and neither would my friends and that I guessed we'd have to go somewhere else. No response. So, when the rest of the group arrived, one the guys went up and asked again for a table for 6 in nonsmoking, to which they said no. He asked if we could move 2 of the, oh, I dunno, 12 or so empty tables together and they said no. He then asked about the 2 guys sitting at a 10-top, to which he was told that, unlike us, they had reservations. The manager, by the way, was standing there the entire time with his back to us. We were astounded that they would let 12 paying customers, planning to come and stay for a good while walk out the door when it was obvoius that they weren't busy. Our spokesperson then told the hostesses in his own words that we'd never be back-- to which, even he was surprised that the manager continued to ignore him as he was using profanity towards the employees. So, we left and went to Glory Days, which was PACKED, where the food was great, the staff was great, and is most definitely the best sports bar in Richmond.
