As a gift for 2008 Fourth of July, my wife and I drove to Lincoln City, about 2 hours out of Portland at the beach to visit The Bay House. We had never heard of it but everyone said that we had to check it out. To say that we were happy with our evening would be an incredible understatement. The dining room and bar are surrounded by large windows overlooking Siletz Bay. The food selection was excellent with not just the local catch prepared to the truest form of what I call "neo-northwest" but some other great items that a true "foodie" like myself appreciated. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and able to answer any question and engaged well with my wife and I. The wine list is gigantic, probably about 50 pages of wines from all over world. For desert, our server offered to find us a table in the busy bar to watch the fireworks. Not just any seat for us though, he sat us down to enjoy our sweets on the couch in front of the fireplace. You must make the drive to visit The Bay House.
