For desert, Papa Haydn is THE BEST! Take a date there for dinner or just for desert. Come early or get a reservation because getting a table as a walk-in is very difficult, it's always busy. Inspired by New York delicatessen and know for their deserts, Rose's is a guilty pleasure. Any of their reubens will set you straight but start off with a cup of matzoh ball soup. My mom would be proud as the matzoh balls and big and fluffy, very traditional.

Adjoining Papa Haydn's is Jo Bar, which is owned by the people who run it's neighbor. A large brick oven puts out great think crust pizzas. I really enjoy the nightly risotto, usually a mushroom type. The bar is a good one to begin your night at for your first one or two cocktails before hitting the town and because of it's proximity to Papa Haydn's, you get access to their deserts as well. Bluehour is incredible. You certainly get your money's worth here. They are known for their wine selection too so begin the evening with a bottle of pinot noir and the cheese plate. If you're entertaining book the chef's table at the center of the restaurant that seats 14 and end the evening with the panna cotta with cherries.

This is the restaurant you should take your mother every Mother's day, the food tastes like mom cooked is as well. Signature dishes like meatloaf, pot roast, you know how it's going to taste.
