Bluehour is not necessarily known for it's Happy Hour selection as much as they are known for their great full meals. One of the top restaurants in Portland, you will not have a bad meal here. The wine selection is profound . If you are interested in coming here for Happy Hour, I would recommend just ordering a nice Oregon Pinot Noir and their cheese plate and you will be in heaven; you don't need much more to enjoy yourself here right after work or a casual meet and greet. If you are here on a date or just want to get some culture while you're out, just across the street is a great art gallery if you are so inclined. Be aware the Bluehour does not have a singles scene, so don't go looking to hook up. Hours Mon-Thu 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:30pm-10pm, Fri 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm, Sat 10am-2:30pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm, Sun 10am-2:30pm, 5:30pm-10pm.

Resting on the banks of the Columbia River, Salty's is the best seafood restaurant in Portland. It's the real deal featuring live Dungeness crab, live Maine lobster, wild Alaskan salmon, and prime USDA steaks. They are open daily for lunch and dinner and also serve a great Sunday brunch.

On any given night, Vault is a great place to meet someone new. Sometimes I feel like they have a minimum age restriction here because I rarely see anyone under 25 here, but that's probably the vibe a Martini bar will naturally get bestowed upon. The unisex bathrooms are sheik with the fogged-glassed doors which only let a persons (or plural persons) sillouettes show through. Good drinks and good ambiance. Try to get there before 9pm to make sure you score the very comfortable leather lounge chairs in front of the fireplace during the winter. Monday through Wednesday 4pm-1am Thursday through Saturday 4pm-2am Sunday 1pm-10pm

Even though it's right next to a prison it's safe! Edgefield has 9 different bars on 38 acres including a hotel and spa. The place has an 18 hole par 3 golf course, an amphitheater and a hobbit bar. Yes. A hobbit bar.

Jake's has been doing seafood in Portland since 1892 and is probably the most famous restaurant in the entire city. If you are a history or trivia buff or you just have your brain filled with worthless information like us, you will be interested to know that this very place spawned the McCormick and Schmick's seafood restaurant chain. Bill McCormick purchased Jake's in the 70's which at the time was run-down and not too far from shutting the doors. He revitalized the restaurant and became partners with Doug Schmick and you can see where this is going. Now there are over 50 M&S restaurants throughout the country and you can thank Jake's for getting the ball rolling.

Located in North Portland, Fire on the Mountain is a no nonsense buffalo wings joint They have 12 different sauces to have your wings covered in, but they also have some sandwiches and salads. I'm not a fan of eating spicy wings and drinking a beer, because it makes it that much hotter, but they have many different micro brews available. If you still have room go for a deep-fried twinkie. Some of the sauces that I consider worth trying are: hot, spicy peanut, and the bourbon. Be careful though, I think the bourbon sauce is tougher than the "hot". It will make you sweat. For every six wings you order you can have a different sauce, so it's more fun to order more wings. Monday - Thursday 11am - 10pm Friday - Saturday 11am - 11pm Sunday 11am - 10pm

My recommendation is make sure someone can drive at the end of the night because it's very easy to be too drunk by the end of the night. If I was a single man who made decent money, the only bar that I would frequent in search of the elusive Cougar would be the Lake House in Lake Oswego. It's situated beautifully on the shore of Lake Oswego, which during the summer, is even better for Cougar hunting. All other seasons are great as well here as Lake Oswego is where all the real Portland Cougars reside.
