While waiting in the inevitably long line, you can read the rich history of this old school Pizza establishment. This is the soup-Nazi of pizza places: don't expect a menu that varies much from pizza and toppings, and don't you dare show up and ask for a slice. It's a whole pie or nothing. It's worth the rules though and the many people in line will agree with you.

In the new world of gourmet pizza, Franny's is Brooklyn's best. Owned and run by a husband and wife team, Franny's comes across as a friendly and upbeat restaurant that is not afraid to make you try new things. Case in point- we recently went with a Vegan friend and hesitantly ordered their olive oil, sea salt and tomato sauce pizza with no cheese. We were blown away by the complex flavors, and left this busy restaurant with full stomachs. Open Tue-Thu 5:30pm-11pm; Fri-Sat 5:30pm-11:30pm; Sun 5:30pm-10pm

Newly opened in the spot that was previously known as Nino's, Francesca's put a face-lift on Nino's in both décor/service and food quality. Their pies are thin in the right New York way, and their signature tomato sauce adds a nice little twist to the traditional pie. We're suckers for their fresh mozzarella and tomato pie, which is overflowing with sauce and fresh herbs.
