Reservations at Grocery can be as hard to come by as the finer Manhattan restaurants, bringing great pride to we Brooklyners. The restaurant is tiny, which explains some of the challenge, and the food is amazing, hence the perfect reservation storm. Expect the chef to stop by your table and ask your opinion, and if you can swing it, take them up on the tasting menu. You'll be surprised how much room your can find in your stomach for food of this quality.

Sauls seems to pick up more praise and a larger customer base each year, which is always a good sign in the world where NYC restaurants come and go like the seasons. The menu can be brief, but changes often and is always worth the pricey-than-normal for Brooklyn cost. Plan on saving room for dessert, the old-school Baked Alaska is our favorite.

Deep into Carroll Gardens and off the beaten restaurant row path, is Crave. It exudes that cozy and quaint Brooklyn charm that brings people in from the outer-boroughs. Crave is a great restaurant with the twist of being a full service and active caterer in the area. The menu changes often (perhaps to try new things out for their catering jobs?) and the tasting menu is worth a try, and take their suggestions on the wine pairings for a culinary delight.

Owned and run by two native Park Slopers, this New American menu is reasonably priced and interesting enough to charm all. We love the sidewalk seating that opens in warmer weather and is situated across from a neighborhood park. Stone Park has a great price fixe during certain days of week- if you're looking for an excuse not to cook one night after work...

The best of organic and local food, Rose Water has as a good brunch as they do dinner. We love that the menu changes regularly, convincing us they are getting the best seasonal food available. We love their fish entrees, and their side of locally grown winter veggies to round out your plate.

Be prepared to wait for a table at this small but friendly Northern Italian restaurant. The candle-lit ambience is a pleasure to wait in, and you can pass the time sipping wine around the corner in their new wine bar. The food changes so often that we don't really have any favorite dishes, though so far we have liked everything we have tried!

A tasteful and tiny addition to Smith Street, this restaurant provides consistently tasty meals with a smile. The food leans towards the creative side, with unexpected returns on flavor. The small but fun bar is best saved for a weekday night when the crowds are a little lighter.
