Short of actually being on a boat in the East River, you're not going to get a better view of the NY skyline and bridges than Bubby's. Located right on the Dumbo park and 'beach', you get to watch boats up and down the East river and can often be treated to a film or commercial shoot outside the window. The main claim to fame for Bubby's is brunch, with a southern twist. The cheese grits and sour cream pancakes are our favorites, and the kid's corner (equipped with toys) is a definite draw for those with wee ones. Open Weekdays 8am-9pm; Sat 10am-11pm; Sun 10am-9pm

You can walk into Clark st diner, place your order and get your food all within 15 NY minutes. The breakfasts here are solid and filling diner food at diner prices- a nice change in a city where brunch can cost you $50 for two. Go early to avoid the hung-over NYU crowd.

Teresa's diner serves all meals, but breakfast is our favorite here. The ricotta pancakes melt in your mouth and their coffee is a bottomless cup. The service is efficient and most are polish speaking, as reflected by the owners menu choices. In nice weather there is sidewalk seating and they will bring you fresh cold water for your pooch.

Situated right on busy Montague St, Lassen and Henning's is a sort of gourmet deli. The have the best sandwiches in town, and definitely make our favorite egg and cheese on a roll- NY style. With a stocked make-it-yourself coffee bar and an oatmeal and toppings station, this deli fits the bill in the AM. Don't think twice about bringing home one of their desserts either, the black and white cookies are a favorite of ours. Open Daily 7am-10:30pm

Walk down the steps to this little bagel place that is merely called ‘Bagels’ and you will find the best bagels in Brooklyn. Huge in size and flavor, this place is why people travel from near and far to get a good Brooklyn bagel.

We don't really understand the alien theme of this neighborhood healthy food café. If you can get past the odd name and alien painting on the inside of the door, the food and offerings are fantastic. Focused on organic, raw and all around healthy food, Siggy's is a vegetarian's dream. We love their fair-trade coffee, their tasty smoothies and their fakin' bacon egg sandwiches in the mornings.
