This little shack of a place may not impress from the outside but this is some of the best Southern pit-cooked BBQ in the city and has been since 1981. BBQ ribs, pork and chicken, are all slow cooked over hickory wood in brick fire pits. The sides are noteworthy but save room for the half moon cookies.

Yes, I know you may be expecting a greasy burger joint but Frank Stitt's newest creation situated next to Highlands Bar and Grill in 5-Points has the best burger in town! (The fries are to die for , too!) A bustling atmosphere and a Boules court ouside make this French bistro authentic in every way. Order your burger cooked to your liking (medium-rare is perfect for me) and enjoy one of the many superb French wines on the list.

One of Chef Frank Stitt's 4 restaurants, Bottega Cafe has the best outdoor dining scene in Birmingham. Less expensive than it's pricier companion restaurant, Bottega, but with equally delicous Italian-inspired cuisine, the patio quickly fills up with young professionals after work. Don't miss out on the homemade pizzas cooked in a large wood burning oven. The Macaroni and Cheese is slso a favorite at this see-and-be-seen hot spot.
