Great Mexican food has a way of bringing people together. Just go to the original Maudie's and you'll know what I mean. Tucked away in a strip mall just west of downtown, Maudie's draws in politicians, students, hippies, yuppies, and every other type of personality in Austin. They'll feed anyone. Maybe world peace starts over Tex-Mex and fresh squeezed margaritas.

A virtual unknown, this east Austin dive is a cash only restaurant that is worth every penny, even though you may only spend about two or three. Chimichangas that could choke a sumo wrestler and tacos al pastor that melt in your mouth. This is a great place to practice your Spanish while enjoying some of the finest Mexican food around.
